Best performances at the German World Championship Trials: Day 4
Day four of the German World Championship Trials began with many intriguing performances of swimmers in both categories of the 50m back-stroke, 50m back-stroke, 50m freestyle, 400m freestyle and 200m freestyle meets respectively, in Berlin, Germany, on June
3.
Helge Meeuw claimed the golden crown in the Men’s 50m back-stroke final with a sterling time of 25.14 seconds and also improved to 9th place in the world rankings. Meanwhile, Christian Diener took silver with a time of 25.49 seconds and Stefan
Herbst captured bronze medal in a time of 25.61 seconds.
On the other hand, Jenny Mensing of the Western Germany won the gold medal in the Women’s 50m back-stroke final with a genuine time of 28.28 seconds, while Isabell Fischer claimed silver in 29.08 seconds. Christin Zenner grabbed bronze with a time of 29.20
seconds.
The Men’s 50m freestyle final was won by another German swimmer, Marco Di Carli with a fastest time of 22.14 seconds. The effort also moved him into the 11th spot in the international rankings. Steffen Diebler wound up second with a time of 22.21
seconds, while Christoph Fildebrandt settled third in a time of 22.70 seconds.
In the Men’s 400m freestyle final, Paul Biedermann won the gold medal with a winning time of 3 minutes and 47.44 seconds and switched to 9th place in the world rankings. Clemens Rapp earned silver with a time of 3 minutes 48.13 seconds and improved
to 10th spot in the international rankings. Meanwhile, Christian Kubusch rounded out the top three in 3 minutes and 49.85 seconds.
Next, the Women’s 200m freestyle final was taken over by Silke Lippok with a sterling time of 1 minute and 58.24 seconds to edge through to 11th spot in the world rankings. Placed second in the corresponding meet was Lisa Vitting with a time of
1 minute and 59.47 seconds, while Franziska Jensen secured third spot in 1 minute and 59.91 seconds.
Hendrik Feldwehr topped the Men's 50m breast-stroke race with a matchless time of 27.74 seconds and squeezed through to 3rd place in the world rankings. Erik Steinhagen was placed second in 28.22 seconds, while Johannes Neumann earned third place
honours in 28.24 seconds.
Finally, Dorothea Brandt won the Women’s 50m breast-stroke title with a fastest time of 30.83 seconds and improved to 4th place in the international rankings. Securing second spot was Caroline Ruhnau with a time of 31.59 seconds and Vogel wound
up third in a time of 31.87 seconds.
