Best place for an american 16 yr old girl to study abroad in england (see details)??

i am an american girl and i want to go study abroad in england for a summer. so obviously i'm sooo excited, but i'm not sure where to stay as i can pretty much stay anywhere (the program i want to do this through has lots of opportunities in different places) and obviously i want to have an amazing time...

- i would like to be near london, but not in london as it's a bit too intense.

- i would like to be in a place where there's good places for teenagers to hang out, you know, a place that's not totally dead dull/full of older ppl, so it's gotta be *lively*

please give suggestions of any towns/places you know that fit that description. thanks so much!!!

Bristol is wicked. So much to do 2-3 hours from london.

Bude in Cornwall is nice, by the sea, good pubs and places for teenages to chill.

But it is 5 hours away from london
