just go aroung the coast. all you need is some whitewash to learn on. you dont need perfect chest high barrelng waves.

I don't know the neighborhood, but I guarantee you that the folks in the local surf shops do. Stop in a few shops and talk to the people who earn their money in the surf industry. They know the local breaks, and will give you much better advice than most folks can give you on line.

Surf shops are neat places. You can 'window shop' for surfboards, clothes, videos and talk (face to face) with people who surf the local breaks. I live on the east Coast. I have been surfing since '66, and whenever I end up in a new area, I check with the folks at the surf shop, they know the real deal.
