  1. Try the school parking lot for a few laps to get the feel of the vehicle.    Park a few times,  move side to side,   brake,   etc.       Then when you feel more comfy,   streets and roads with light traffic.

  2. I suggest that your Dad find a place where it is legal to drive but there is no traffic, or very little trraffic.

My father took me to a parking lot where all the parked cars were clustered at one end.  We went to the other end where there were no cars.  I practiced driving, parking etc.  He had got some of those yellow cones, and we used them to see if I could parallel park without knocking them down.  It took many hours many days before I could do that.

  3. The very first time?  I think I would try a large,  empty parking lot on a Sunday morning.  Once you get the feel of the car and you can start it and stop it smoothly, then try a subdivision  street when it is not busy.  either the middle of the day, or at the evening after everyone had gotten home from work.

    Good luck with the driving.

  4. With your permit use the back roads or drive early in the morning.....

  5. HELLO

woods, parking lots or non busy streets where you can concentrate better.

lots of luck and have FUN :)

  6. High school parking lot on a sunday when no one is there.

  7. Go to a quiet, straight stretch of roadway. Practice learning the gauges (speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, radiator temperature gauge), and controls (emergency flashers, wipers, horn, signals, lights) walking around the car, checking for damage to the body, tire inflation, rim condition, wiper condition, looking under the hood to find the 6 fluids necessary to enable your vehicle to operate properly.

Learn how to start the car (key/ignition positions), shift gears, how to use the brake and the accelerator smoothly and gently.

Learn to look up and far ahead when you steer. Don't stare at the steering wheel.......new drivers tend to grip the wheel too hard, so try driving straight ahead with just your forefinger and thumbs at the 9 and 3 o'clock position on the steering wheel which will give you a lighter touch and allow you to feel the steering. Practice putting the car in motion and stopping.....shifting into PARK after stopping......also practice reversing in a straight line while looking back over your shoulder and using your passenger side mirror too, and cover the brake with your right foot while backing. Also, back up slowly, so that a person could walk beside you, because you have no right of way when you back up.

Once you master these basic skills, then you can practice turning right and then left.........enjoy it.....it does take time to learn to steer so be patient with yourself..........AND you will make mistakes. That's how you learn..........if you can do this in a large empty parking lot, that would be best.......on a Sunday morning for example..........
