Best place to find a used bike in my area?

I really want a bike but I'm kinda on a budget so I plan on buying a used one.Where should I look?

I'd try garage/yard sales ... people often sell off bikes they don't use for good prices. It also gives you a chance to see, test for size, assess condition and even test ride the bike.

As mentioned, garage sales and craigslist - use the wanted section on craigslist too. Also, the Salvation Army, Goodwill and other thrift stores. Bike shops, call and ask. Look for re-cycle type bike shops and do a Google search for bicycle and your city name. Often there are local programs to help you get a bike buy building one from used parts or volunteering some time. I always check eBay and limit the search to a distance I'm willing to drive to pick up something. Some eBayers sell bikes as pick-up only/no shipping and they go for way below their actual value.
