Best place to find a used bike in my area?

I really want a bike but I'm kinda on a budget so I plan on buying a used one.Where should I look?

  1. I'd try garage/yard sales ... people often sell off bikes they don't use for good prices. It also gives you a chance to see, test for size, assess condition and even test ride the bike.

  3. Craigslist, you can check out whats in your area and in your price range.

  4. As mentioned, garage sales and craigslist - use the wanted section on craigslist too. Also, the Salvation Army, Goodwill and other thrift stores. Bike shops, call and ask. Look for re-cycle type bike shops and do a Google search for bicycle and your city name. Often there are local programs to help you get a bike buy building one from used parts or volunteering some time. I always check eBay and limit the search to a distance I'm willing to drive to pick up something. Some eBayers sell bikes as pick-up only/no shipping and they go for way below their actual value.
