  1. This is a little bit of a general question but I'll try & help you. What do you mean by cheap? If you're not planning on flying anywhere than I would check the ski areas that are within driving distance to you. With six persons in one car, if you can all fit, your driving will be cheap if you share the gas.

There are plenty of ski resorts who rent homes & condos. but it will be hard to say that you can find a log cabin. Some have them but log cabins can be more expensive. You can find plenty of homes for rent that will fit all six of you or you may want to rent a condo. that sleeps six persons.

These places will have two or three bedrooms & some will have a fold oout coucn in the livingroon that sleeps two persons & you should get at least two baths with most of these.

The big advantage to something like this is they all come with fully equiped kitchens & dining rooms, including all the dishes & pots & pans for cooking. I would suggest doing some grocery shopping when you get there & share the cooking. Unless you want to eat at fast food restaurants, the eating out will get expensive. You can easily find a grocery store in any town. With six people you cn do your own partying at home & they'll have a T.V. VCR, DVD player or maybe even a stereo for you.

Another thing, a lot of these places will have access to swimming pools, hot tubs & more.

I would first find the resort's website & check for accommodations & they list everything they, including the price & all the amentities. You can also try a Property Management Company in town or even check Real Estate. A lot of the companies will do the renting for the owners when the owners are out of town.

    GOOD LUCK!!

  2. Les Arcs sounds good for you, there are slopes for Beginners and more advanced skiers, plus there are cheapish apartments.

Mind you it's more of a Family place.

  3. the alps

  4. holiday valley in ellicotville ny!

  5. Best place in the U.S. to ski and snowboard is no other than Colorado. You'll want to stay away from resorts such as brekenridge and keystone if you want cheap. These are the higher end of the resorts.

The cheaper resorts include winter park, copper, loveland. You can find great deals on lift tickets for these. Also there are a great range of greens to black and both resorts. Great places for beginners.

As for staying in a log cabin, unless you own a log cabin or have friends who own one, you're not going to be able to rent one out. There are hotels and condos that are close to slopes and will be of easy access and there may even be a shuttle to and from the slopes and the place you are staying. It is convenient and you won't be in the middle of a forest like a log cabin. I'm sorry but skiing is not like the movies.
