  2. I have never been but I have booked  a lovely hotel near O'Connell St for a weekend of shopping and cocktails with 7 thirty somethings!

  3. Hi there,

Although there are alot of the bright, shiny 'super-pubs' in Dublin there are also loads of hidden gems that are great places to experience the legendary Dublin pub atmosphere.

Davy Byrnes on Duke Street is in the centre of Dublin close to Grafton Street, one of the main shopping areas. This a great place to socialise in as it's got a real traditional Dublin feel to it & the locals drink here so that's always a good sign - the pub serves food as well. Oh, and when you get there, why not impress your friends by telling them that Davy Byrnes is mentioned in James Joyce's masterpiece, Ulysses.

Actually, Baggot Street (again fairly central) has some really good pubs dotted along it. There's Doheny & Nesbitts which is one of Dublin most well known pubs while Toners pub is another great place for relaxing pint - another literary piece of info coming up: Toners is said to be the only pub that Ireland's legendary poet W.B. Yeats ever visited.

And if you're heading for the Dublin Tourism Centre on Suffolk Street, right across the road you'll find O'Neills Bar which again, is ideal for a chat and a drink in a nice atmosphere.

As has been mentioned already, hotel bars tend to be a bit more relaxed. A good place to try actually is the Gresham Hotel on O'Connell Street - nice hotel bar and a huge lobby area where you can sink into comfortable couches & armchairs.

  4. Go to bachelor walk near the monument and go to number 24 the Arlington hotel, they have Irish dancing and music, after the show, they turn the downstairs into a night club and the show goes upstairs, but there is also a lobby where you can sit and drink in quiet if you want to. Everyone is welcome, you don't have to stay at the hotel and the shows are free.

  5. Oliver St. John Gogarty's in the Temple Bar district has music all the time, but other rooms without music. It's the best place I went in Ireland.
