I am a kiwi living in Edinburgh! Am heading back to New Zealand at the end of the year and would really love to do the Working Holiday visa for Ireland. Has anyone had any experience doing this and know how long we can work for?

More importantly, Im really interested to hear what everyones opinions/thoughts/ideas are on where the best place to live in Ireland. I recently visited Dublin and loved it but found it quite expensive. Id love a place which is friendly and laidback. I find the Irish lovely. So any ideas on where to live - Cork/Belfast???

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

  1. Cork is great because it's just like a big town.  Good clubs and bars, but you're out in the country in twenty minutes from the city centre, and you can be in the wilds of West Cork in less than 2 hours.  And we've got the best hurling team - up the Rebels!

  2. kilkenny good laugh and nice people

  3. Donegal.

    = )

  4. limerick is good

  5. You seem to have picked out Cork and Belfast, two good choices, I'm from Belfast and there is lots to do here, you can rent accomodation relatively cheaply and there is good nightlife and shopping etc.

I'm not 100% sure how expensive accomodation is in Cork but there is lots to do, and as I have said before, Cork people rock, never met one I haven't liked. Enjoy your trip =]

  6. mayo and kildare are lovely! i live in kildare right on the boder of dublin and kildare so i get country life and only 30 minutes on the bus to dublin city centre! what more could ya want!

  7. Donegal's the place to be!

  8. Galway or surrounds....great atmosphere..you'll love it:)  The country would be less expensive than city life though maybe not as convenient!  But the west of Ireland really is fantastic:)  I used to live in Dublin and moved to Galway and I would never go back now:)

  9. my cousin conals house..make sure you tell him i said hi

  10. not in irland

  11. the best place is kildare everybody knows eachother and it is cheap and beautiful trust me

  12. Carlow in the south east ( have to say there cause i live there lol) medium size town only 30 mins from kilkenny city and an hour from Dublin, all the benefits of living near the countryside with the major large towns and cities only a stones throw away.
