Best place to live in LA for a music video director?

I'm planning to spend some time in LA next year, to look for some job opportunities. Wich are the best places regarding location and price to rent in LA? I'm from Lisbon, Portugal. Thanks everyone

You should try,

Beverly Hills, though it could be expensive.

Marina del Rey peninsula, not too close to Venice Beach, close enuf for a booty-call.  Fresh air, nice turf with views.  Walk to marina, fairly safe.  Nice parties and quiet during winter months.  Also try Manhattan Beach, Studio City and Silverlake(lots of Film Industry ppl live here).
