Please don't be too bias, just the facts please. I'm young, willing to take a survival job (bar etc) whilst I search for a career job. I'll be on a limited budget and ideally want to live somewhere lively, with plenty of businesses, job opportunites and thats not pretentious.

  1. Camden is pretty cool and alternative with lots of bars and great social atmosphere...but accommodation is expensive. You'll probably get a cheap studio there though. There are lots of studios in Notting Hill/Bayswater area  - I lived there and like it alot. Plenty of bars and cafes and the famous Portobello Market. Clapham is up and coming as well and the accommodation is medium price. I would definitely go for zone 2 if you want to live somewhere lively with atmosphere.

  2. crouch end is nice, but probably a bit pricey(loads of "survival jobs" tho. Islington is nice too.

  3. penge

  4. Tower Bridge/Docklands/Isle of Dogs/Hampstead/Muswell Hill/Islington all trendy and busy places.

  5. Try the outskirts, it's about the only place that is cheap! The east of London is probably the cheapest but is not as nice of area. West London is probably the best (it's where I come from!) but is extreamly pricey even in run down areas such as Acton or Ealing because it has so many transport links.

  6. West London area's would be best - Ealing, Acton, Hayes, Uxbridge, etc. All have good routes into Central London with bar work etc available readily but are cheaper to live in than say Chelsea or Notting Hill.  xxxxxx

  7. Apparantly in Downing Street there are a few underperforming people who may be kicked out.

    Maybe you could try there.

  8. Tufnell Park, North London (Borough of Islington)...Its great! We have a number of pubs, bars and restaurants. It's also very close to Kentish town (10/15min walk) which has some great pubs and bars, oh and near camden (15/20min bus)

It has an underground station on the northern line and major bus routes for example, 390 and 134 (takes you into camden). 390 takes you past kings cross(10min journey) past Euston(15min journey) and onto Oxford Street. It has quite a few shops and it even has it's own comedy club at The Tufnell's on a saturday night...£10!!!! It's not at all a pretentious place to live, some really nice, cheap places to live and it's just lovely!
