  1. Here are my favorite places where I've met most of my new Chicago friends: I keep an eye out for art gallery openings on Randolph and in River North.  The parties are a blast, and the people are interesting and diverse.  Also, we volunteer at some of the area museums as well as charity events like Cancer Walks, and you meet tons of people while working, and you know they're at least somewhat good people for being there!  Also, I have started attending church services at a big city church and I have met so many people!

You'll also notice that at certain small clubs and bars like the Long Room, Subterranean, and the Hideout, there are tons of different kinds of bands as well as some really neat regulars!  Enjoy all the city has to offer!

  2. Go where your interests take you! If you enjoy exercising and the outdoors, take your workout to the Lakefront Trail, where you can bike, blade or jog.... If you like general learning, visit museums on free days; go to art filmhouses, etc. Don't be afraid to go alone. Self-confidence is attractive, and pursuing your interests is a big part of that. Don't shy away from talking to the people around you....Being a "regular" at your favorite cafe, city site, etc., will also allow you to be noticed.
