  1. Gore Mtn. is best in NY.

  2. there are good places all over vermont. i really liked hunter mtn they have a nice terrain and atmosphere.

  3. Depending on where you are in NY...

If you are in western NY- I recently moved there for school... there is Bristol Mountain... From what I read on the Internet... I think this mountain seems great.  I just went there today and I loved the feeling there.  Sunshine Lodge felt a lot like a home, compared to all other resorts I have been to...

If you are in eastern NY- I'd recommend VT or Jiminy Peak. I am not a huge fan of the Adirondacks' ski resorts... In VT- I would recommend... several places...

If you are looking for big mountains, diverse trails- Sugarbush. Unfortuately I don't recommend Killington because I always have had bad experience there.  Plus most skiers there tend to be crazy and out of control.

For family- I would definitely say Smuggler's for a weekend or week long trip.   (Same goes for Sugarbush)

And lastly, one of my personal favorites is Okemo.  The bottom half is easy and not too steep, and the top half is much more challenging.

If you're from NYC, I would guess Windham or Hunter would be awesome although I have never gone to those two mountains before.

Best of luck with making a selection.

  4. VT.....STOWE, VT

  5. The Lake Placid area is excellent in NY since it was the sight of the Winter Olympics & any sight of these events has excellent skiing. Another excellent ski resort is Killington, Vermont. I've been an expert skier for over 35 yrs. & I also work as a Travel Agent in the ski/snowboarding industry. Both these areas are as good as most ski areas in the Rockies, i.e., their vertical drops are close in height & the amount of runs & lifts that they both have a excellent. Have fun. Vermont may be closer to you then Lake Placid, depending on where you live.

  6. in ny, i would say hunter or whyndham, if your into terrain parks check out mountain creek in nj, or drive to vermont just 3 hours until stratton and mount snow, killingotn is about 4 hours depending on where u live, check on snow conditions at the individual web sites for updated listings

  7. In Pennsylvania there's the Poconos: Camelback, Shawnee, Bear Mountain and many more!
