Best place to snowboard near Salt Lake / Park City Utah?

Question

My girlfriend and I will be staying in Salt Lake over New Years and will want to snowboard for 2 days. Tried to book a hotel near park city but it's too expensive.

We will have a 4x4 SUV and would like to know the best place to drive for snowboarding. Should we consider driving out to Park City Resort, or consider other resorts such as Snowbird?

SNOWBIRD.......its just below ALTA ( they wont let you board)

you gotta hit this place...pristine!...big gondola ride thats fast as all h**l up to the top....very cool...expensive and worth every dime...
