  1. I live in Auckland and go to the University of Auckland. It's great, lots of research going on there and top quality lecturers. Living conditions are good but the cost is quite high. You can get a shoebox apartment close to uni pretty cheap or you can rent in the suburbs and tackle public transport every day. Otago has a good reputation, big student life and the cost of living is much much cheaper but geez it's cold down there.

  2. Dunedin is known as the student city. It can get very rowdy with drunken behaviour etc but if you're young and you like that kinda thing then you should go there! I studied at Canterbury uni (christchurch) which was awesome too!

I'm from Wellington but don't recommend it for study because it's quite hard to get to (very hilly etc).

Auckland is the biggest city, and they have huuuuge traffic jams so unless you live within walking distance to the university, i wouldn't bother!

Palmerston North has pretty good student life, kinda like Dunedin but smaller.

Oh Dunedin is the cheapest for rent, but most students there end up paying twice their rent in alcohol every week!

    Don't go to Invercargill, it's a hole!

Good luck and I hope you love NZ as much as I do!!!!!
