  1. just surf on a weekday and check surf reports in southern cali because you never really know whats good unless u do ur research

  2. Best place to learn? Doheny in Dana Point. I live in Orange County, so I can't say much for LA and SD, but when I am teaching someone how to surf I always take them to Doheny. The waves are small 90% of the time and really slow. This helps because then they aren't pounding on your head when you are trying to paddle out, or when you are trying to catch a wave.

But wherever you end up going, definitely go during the week. There are five times as many people at the beach on the weekends. Find a place that is a slow, small wave so you don't get frustrated just trying to fight the waves the whole time. Good luck!

  3. Try Faria beach in Ventura, CA.  Good spot for beginners and longboarders. Waves break in shallow water (4 to 5 ft deep) Spot Gets better with more tide, the point can be rocky during low tide so be careful. They do rent surfboards and wetsuits.

  4. Oh I can't remember the name it's in Ventura County, I think it's like Mongo's cove ask the locals.

  5. Venice Beach

  6. BOLSA-CHICA
