Best place to swim in the sea by Sorrento Italy?

We will be in Sorrento Italy in August and would like to swim in the Mediterranean. Does anyone have a suggestion? We will not have a car. Thanks for your help.

I was in Sorrento in late May and found that the beaches in Sorrento are no good.  They are more like marinas and there are hefty admission charges (15-20 euro per person).  Also, the water was a little dirty.  

You can take a bus or ferry from Sorrento to Positano, where we went to a beautiful beach that didn't have an admission charge.  As you're looking at the main beach in Positano take the pathway to the left (it is called something d'America) and the beach is a 10 min walk.   There is also a pretty good restaurant on the pathway called Lo Guaracino.  

Capri is accessible by ferry from Sorrento's harbor.  There aren't really beaches there but the water is beautiful.  You can rent a private boat and go swimming in some of the amazing grottoes around the island.  

Have fun...it is an amazingly beautiful place!
