Best place to vacation in Italy? And why?

I would love to vacation somewhere in Italy. I always wanted to go there, but there are quite a few places I would like to visit. What is your opinion on vacationing there?

It depends from the period. If you wanna go on vacation in summer and you want to go to a beach resort you should go to rimini, the most famous beach resort in italy.

I work on the beach in rimini in summer and i can tell you it's full of foreign toursists and there are lots of hotels for every price and every kind of service

I'm italian. I like the Mediterranean Sea and, in particular, Elba's Island. The best cities are Venice, Firenze and Milan. Then I also like Como's lake, but if you love disco and pub, the best places are Rimini and Riccione.

This really depends on you. It sounds like you are looking for the "classic" Italian experience of the Italian countryside. In that case, I'd say Tuscany. From there you can take day trips to Pisa, Sienna, Florence, San Gimignano, etc.

Rome is a history lesson and is fabulous with wonder and variety. The Amalfi Coast is sunny and relaxing. Venice is interesting with it's water transportation and former opulence.

If you are looking for a charming Italian city that isn't too small, I recommend Sienna. I could sit in their unique (slanted) town square all day and enjoy the view.

Those are my top 3. I was born in Rome, lived there for 14 years then came to the United States. It is a wonderful city. Full of history and culture.

If you want to see the best place, Venice. Beautiful! There is nothing more the describe it. And since some structures are beginning to crumble- now is the best time!
