Fernando de Noronha has the best beaches and best laid back beach atmosphere in Brazil.  It is difficult and espensive to get to, but worth it.  Many beaches from Buzios north are very good, check out the annual Magazine "Praias" for a summary of all the beaches there.

The best natural destinations are Bonito and Iguazu Falls.  the Amazon is so huge, but most jungle expeditions are based around Manaus.  For cities and colonial culture, Rio, Minas Gerais, Salvador da Bahia, Paraty and Ouro Preto are great.  

Just big, modern cities and nightlife Sao Paulo, Curitiba and perhaps Porto Alegre are good.

I would start in Iguazu falls, then go to Sao Paulo (just for one day actually, I don't like that city much) then continue to Rio, Buzio, Angra and finally I will save the best for last: Bahia and its surroundings!

I spent two weeks in Brazil and spent most of my time in a small beach city called Camboriu.  It is just slightly north of Florianopolis by about 50 km.  I had a great time there and would like to go back eventually. The nightlife is exciting with an endless amount of clubs and things to see and do.  I also liked Rio and the beaches there at Copcabana.  The natural setting is beautiful along with the people.    I hope you have a wonderful vacation and email if you have any questions!  Take care!
