I would have to say....

Where your heart desires-follow it.  

The best place to work is where you are happy and content.  If you like being close to family and you move-you may not be happy. If you love the beach and move to the mountains-you'll never feel at home.  Ask yourself what best place really means... is it money or helping someone or being appreciated. What makes you happiest...

If it is money you like-do your research-it's out there but take into consideration the cost of living. Some small towns offer a lot at a much smaller price than in the city.

If you like the mountains-Montana and Virginia have some very affluent areas that are very into exercise and massage both.  

The coast - anywhere that is more residential than tourists.

Don't forget to dream..... it's a big world

No one can answer this for you.  You have to find the best place for you.  What is it that you value most?  What kinds of clients do you want to work with?  What do you do best?  What are your strengths?

Sometimes when you are just starting out you don't know what it is that you really want.  The only thing to do is try a few different places.

You should also research different places to work and interview them before they interview you.  Choose where you want to work and then just keep working to get that place to hire you.

You can also create your own job if there is a sector or area that you are interested in and they don't have any massage therapists there you can tell them what you can do for them and create your own job.
