  1. Funky areas to hang out/shop/eat out - Ackland St. St. Kilda, Brunswick St. Fitzroy, Bridge Rd. Richmond, Lygon St. Carlton, Chapel St. South Yarra.

Things to check out in the city - Victoria Market, Southgate, Casino (need to have ID 18 years+), Eureka Tower, Docklands, Aquarium, Federation Square.

Near the city - MCG/Teltra Dome (go and see an AFL game), Botanic Gardens, Melbourne Zoo.

Nice day trips if you have a car - The Dandenongs, The Yarra Valley, The Mornington Peninsula.

Nice areas to visit if you want to spend a night or two away - The Great Ocean Road (maybe stay in Lorne), The Grampians (maybe stay in Halls Gap), Mount Buller (if you like skiing), Phillip Island (check out the penguin parade).

There is plenty to do - you are only limited by your budget, whether you have access to a car and for some things, your age.  Hope you have fun!

PS: Check out Metlink website so you can navigate yourselves around the city using public transport.

  3. A couple of "typical" tourist things I'd recommend are the Eureka Tower's "The Edge".  It's a 'glass' booth that projects out from the side of the building.  You get fantastic views; including below you -- yes... the floor is 'glass' too.

The other fun thing is riding on Puffing Billy.  Puffing Billy is a narrow-gauge steam train, and easily accessible by public transport.  It's great fun hanging out the windows, as the train slowly chugs through some of the Dandenong Ranges' most beautiful subtropical rainforests.

There's plenty of things to see and do in Melbourne; it's only limited by your imagination and budget.  Why not check out visitmelbourne.com for more information or suggestions.

Have a wonderful (and safe) holiday.

  4. umm......take a day trip to the surf coast and catch some sun!!!....or go shopping at chadstone???

  5. well the comedy festival is starting in a few days i think.

so if your there that time then go to that.

    um shopping is great.

go to dinner at the docklands area.

great resteraunts there and its beautiful sitting next to the water.

sorry thats all i can think of. i know theres heeps more but i cant remember :)
