Best places to go in Germany?

Where do you reckon would be the the best places to go in germany? what are some great tourists attractions there?

I would reccomend Leipzig and Dresden, especially if you are planning a trip to the former east germany.   Dresden is alternatively known as the Baroque City, or the Florence of the north, due to its architecture and many fabulous museums respectively.  Das Grüne Gewölbe is a fabulous collections of jewels and gems that rivals the british crown jewels.  Der SemperOper is one of the most esteemed opera houses on the continant, and there is a wonderful area of the city called Neustadt where there are many hip pubs and nightlife opportunities.  what is the greatest thing about dresden however, is its relative obscurity.  it has, for its size, as great a selection of things to see and do as there are in any of europe's great cities: london, Paris, rome: florence italy, but without the hour long tourest lines.  Leipzig is only an hour or so by train, and there you will find many historic shops and plazas.

The Romantic Road in Bavaria is one of the most beautiful parts of Germany I have seen. Rothenburg Ober Tauber is a wonderful ancient town and Fussen with it's castles is great as well. Travel down from the top to the bottom and you can't go wrong. Make sure that you don't keep to the autobahns and you'll get the best country side.

Munich is also a wonderful city with a long history...

BTW: Auschwitz is not in Germany it is in Poland, so don't look for it there.

Hi!

Depends on where in Germany you will travel. I'm from south Germany and I would recommend Munich of course-Ulm(and the Ulmer Münster). If you come in September, there is a huge Volksfest in Stuttgart. You should go to Heidelberg, Schloß Neuschwanstein. And just in case you get lost in the middle of nowhere(Laichingen-where I live) you can see lots of caves in this area.

Tour the Rhein.  Visit Heidelberg.  Rent a car and visit the area around the Black Forest.  Best thing to do is get a map/guide from one of the major guides to Europe and read it carefully.  There are also many guide books on Germany that you can obtain at your local library.  Look for small walled cities.  Frankfort and larger cities are a waste of time unless you like museums, etc. Have a great trip.

Go to Berlin! There are more tourist attractions here tha you could see in severla weeks of constant sight seeing. And by the way.........Auschwitz is in Poland. Berlin only has Sachsenhausen which is small and didnt kill many people. It is a friendly place. Or just because I enjoyed my time in München during my class trip I will recommend it oo although it is not as cool as Berlin.

Everybody goes to the Black Forest.Come to my hometown Dortmund.We have the biggst footballstadion in Europe.Our christmas market is one of the best ones in germany.

Our beer is the best beer in the world as well.

You can go to Auschwitz, if your into history you can tour the concentration camps, its depressing but it gives you a real sense of what happened during the Holocaust. I'd love to visit them myself.

well since I lived close by Munich for almost 8 yrs . Would recommend you go to Munich theree is not one thing you'll dislike ther the city is beautiful shopping is great and the food oh so so so good . You should also check out the Oktoberfest if possible it's the best time ever . Now if you go in let's say winter you could go to Garmish Partenkirchen it's a town about 80 mils or so from Munich best place for Snowboarding my opinion and also while there you can check out couple of the small towns like Kochel am See ( Kochel by the Lake ) and Walchensee ( it's a lake town )  they believe that you can still find artifacts from the 2nd WW in the water so it's a awesome place for diving and because it's surrounded by mountains Paragliding hiking is also available . Now you can also go to Dachau which is close by Munich and you will find a KZ Camp from the 2WW you need to go and see if you are interested with History . There are so many places u could go in Germany I could go on forever hehe .
