Best places to go to in Madrid in fall time, mid October?

i'm planning to go visit my friend in Madrid around my bday time in Oct. Will stay there up to a week.Considering my friend working and not spending with me 24/7,where could i go to spend some quality time? I love : walking;sightseeing;shopping;arts ;live music;dancing and wine tasting..Oh,and i love to tease :)

La Gran Via, Museo del Prado, Parque del Retiro and if you like the nature walk, or run, on Casa de Campo and visit the Zoo. I will recommended, if you have the time, to take a train to Segovia is a beautiful city, where you can see a Roman aqueduct. If you like shopping take a taxi to La Vaguada.

You could spend weeks just wandering around the city itsel and enjoying every minutef...La Plaza Mayor, La Puerta de Toledo, La Puerta del sol, El Retiro Park, El Jardin Botanico, La Casa de Campo, The Zoo. But if you like museums...you have The Prado, The Museo Thyssen, and the Reina Sofía. all near to each other in the center of the city.

Then in la Plaza de Oriente you have the Teatro Real, the Palacio Real with the Almudena Basilica across from it and the Royal Armory with the military museum.

The Puerta del Sol is the center of the city. (And the starting point for all the roads in Spain) with the city hall on one side and all the little streets nearby that are wonderful for window shopping and spending money.

Go to EL CORTE INGLES department store at Callao for some real shopping if you like.

Then you have the marvelous side trips possible...

A whole morning for El Escorial Palace (with a crypt with the tombs of all the spanish kings)

A day for Aranjuez (the Real Sitio palace is magnificent) another for Toledo (the whole city is splendid, it's hilly so you'd best be a good walker).. El Greco's best paintings and his home and workshop are there.

Then there is Segovia with the famous aqueduct, the old town is also lovely, but there are less things to see in Segovia (that's ehy I've put it last on the list).

You will find that a week is too short to see everything! (And you will want to come back!!)

Apart from what you have just read, I would also recommend to get a train and go to Toledo (1 day trip). It is a wonderfull city where  you can find a mixture of cultures (islam, jewish and christian). Aranjuez is another possibility as it has the greatest gardens you may see (if you love walking this is the place for you) and in autumn they are brilliant (falling leaves and nice colours) as well as a beautiful palace. you could also go to El Escorial where you could see the wonderful monastery that Philip II started to build (2/3 hours visit)

There are many great things to see around Madrid so choose carefully to take profit of your time!!!!

I would recommend you to take a look at all these places on the net and check which of them is/are the one/s that attract/s you more.
