  1. As far as the restuarant, I suggest you take him to place called the Grove, beautiful, quiet and romantic.  And oh yeah, try the creme brulee.  It's to die for.  Good luck

  2. ur moms house

There's nothing better than walking across the Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn. (Keep right to avoid cyclists!) Take the first set of stairs off the bridge, make a left, and walk down the hill for a great view of the city at Fulton Landing and a hot olive-and-mushroom pizza at Grimaldi's.

After crossing the bridge and eating the pizza, go for a home made ice cream at the Brooklyn ice cream factory. Meanwhile, enjoy a great view of lower Manhattan and watch the couples that go to that place to take pictures after the wedding.

A rare sight is the abandoned City Hall subway station (closed since 1945). Just get the Lexington Avenue 6 train to its last downtown stop, stay on, and it loops through the old station as it turns around. Its a rare forgotten sight.

I recommend Julius Bar in the West Village at the corner of West 10th and Waverly. It is has been a bar since the late 19th century and a g*y meeting place since the 1950s. In June 2006, Esquire magazine named it one of the best bars in America: www.esquire.com/features/articles/2006/0... Saying that "If Eugene O'Neill and Tennessee Williams were drinking buddies, Julius' would've been their bar."

The Brooklyn Museum of Art is one of the best art museum in the country and adjacent to it is the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Try to plan on going when the Japanese garden is in full bloom

How about a terrific, in depth walking tour of the Lower East Side. The tour guide is a really friendly, knowledgable guy and the tour was fun and interesting. I reserved online at www.timelinetouring.com

On Christopher, one can find a lively, bustling basement, once hollowed, now filled till 4 am, with pool tables, ping pong, chess, Scrabble games, booze and live jazz (in a side room for minimal extra cover). The Fat Cat is the best find so far, especially for the laid-back hip intellectual atmosphere that drifts through the dim basement lighting. Fat Cat is a must return.

What about the New World Stages and their campy musicals? Talk about a cool space found underground.

  4. Oh my goodness, there is sooo much to do in Manhattan that it's hard to pinpoint!  Basically it all depends on his personal taste.  There's Times Square, many comedy clubs to choose from.  How about a carriage ride in Central Park? (yes, men love that too! hehe!)  Finding a nice restaurant is easy...choosing one is difficult as there are sooo many of them!  The food is all delicious!  NYC has a website with many business listed...check it out and base your birthday surprise trip on what he likes.

  5. Instead of doing just one thing in Manhattan; try mixing it up a bit. Start your day a little early. Hit a play on or off Broadway, visit the Wax museum(there you'll see wax figures of celebs and other dignitary figures-don't forget your camera) go someplace fun to eat such as Serendipity3 - the best chicken pot pie & cold hot chocolate...it's a groovy fun place. If your budget allows; hire a limo; to chauffer you guys around. That will top it off...that way you don't have to worry about parking etc., when booking the limo- tell them your intinerary & they will base your price on that., Have fun

  6. I like Gotham Bar and Grill near Washington square. Trendy ,pricey, but really fine food. My favorite! Happy birthday!
