Question:

Best places to go to out of the Greek islands for people in their 30's and 50's?

I am in my 30's and my friend is in his 50's. We want to go to the Greek islands but not somewhere which is full of people in their 20's who want to party.

We are looking for somewhere reasonably quiet, beautiful scenery, that sort of thing?

Any ideas? Thanks

  1. highly recommend lassi in kefalonia and hire a car and explore the island its very beautiful.

  2. Naxos (in the cyclades - ferry from Piraeus), Paxos (south of Corfu) is a lovely small island with just three villages a bus and great swimming. Samos (In the N E Aegean with flight from the UK). You can get to the neighbour island, Ikaria, from there. Leros and Patmos (north of Kos) are a decent size with a good Greek feel to them. Best to fly to Kos and take the daily hydro-foil from Kos harbour.

www.gtp.gr may help you since it gives ferry timetables throughout Greece.

  3. CRETE IS GOOD............

  4. There are so many places to visit. Check on Hydra, Syros, Milos or Kithira. If I were you I would avoid Mykonos, Santorini and Paros. Although I beleive that even in these very popular islands you can have your relaxed vacation. There are always places to stay away from young noisy people.

  5. i don't know sorry

  6. Ok from the islans I have visited so far I would recomend Alonissos ( you can see the endagered Monachus-Monachus seal) http://www.alonissos.gr/en/home.asp?p=1-...

    , Patmos http://www.greeka.com/dodecanese/patmos/...

and Syros wich is a bigger island http://www.thegreektravel.com/syros/phot...

  7. lesvos is beautiful & the resort of skala kalloni could be right up your street. we have stayed at the hotel pasiphae here & whilst it's not the most upmarket it's clean, got a great pool & the staff are very friendly.

  8. I agree with misty blue  Pafos in Cyprus is fantastic beautiful scenery something for everyone and the people are amazing

  9. Skopelos.

This island was almost tourist free last June, so it can't have built up too much now.

From their you can relax in the cocktail bars, crepe restaurants and look around at the beautiful and sparcely populated, but highly developed area of the Sporodes islands. No discotechs, nothing like ibiza just calm and peaceful.

What i found nice aswell was that you swim in the sea, you dont swim in the pools like in the other greek islands. If you wanted to swim in a pool you could just visit one in your home country.

Skopelos is very remote from the rest of the the greek islands, and doesn't even have an airport.

You will fly to Skiathos first, where you were get an hour long journey on a ferry to skopelos. This ride is absolutely magnificant.

I highly recommend this, and suggest you look on youtube for videos on skopelos.

    Its a magical place.

  10. the solution  is :

    PATMOS

rent a studio in this site:

    www.apolafsis.gr/

    75 euro per night

  11. zante your best place, dont go to kephalonia you will be bored silly, zante quiet, but things to do/see if you want go see the turtles well worth it

  12. Well I'm off to Paphos in Cyprus tomorrow.I've heard nothing but good things about it.History, scenery, great food, nice people.Stay just outside Coral Bay and you'll be sorted.

  13. Lefkada or Parga  - although Parga is not an island (mainland Epirus) .. it's retained its Greekness and if you hire a car you'll find some of the most beautiful scenery in Greece. In my opinion a lot nicer than many islands!

  14. My nickname may be a clue but I'm going to recommend Chios!

Especially our part of the island - the Northwest. It is 2pm on a very hot, sunny day, I have just come back from the beach and apart from a handful of people at the beach bar the nearest people were about 500m (yes, its a long beach!) away. Do you think that might be quiet enough?

Chios is still off the beaten tourist track despite a rich history, unique villages, dramatic scenery and great uncrowded beaches. Apart from the area south of Chios town you will find very little evidence of the island being geared towards tourists.

Being a N. Aegean island you won't find the picture postcard 'blue and white'. However, the medieval villages of Pyrgi and Mesta, the 'mastic' villages of the south and the hilltop villages of the north are wonderful places to explore. The best part being that you won't be trailing round after a coach convoy.

If you get lonely for crowds you can take a short ferry trip to Cesme in Turkey but only as a break from your peaceful and relaxing holiday here!

Just so I am not accused of too much bias I will second some of the above recommendations. I have been to Kythira recently but it was October so rather quiet. Paxos is very beautiful but after 23 years it may have changed a little! Another island worth consideration - Skyros.

  15. KOS mastari its a lovely small village

    great for people 30sto 60s

  16. Try Kefalonia.  I think that's what you're looking for.
