I have lived in Washington for a 18 years and lived in Cali for about a year and moved back to Washington. Been here for a few months and need a change already... lol... so deciding on maybe colorado.. never really heard of anything there and it always seemed like a good city... I love winter sports so I'll be having fun on the slopes, but there's a lot of places around the area.. Aurora, Boulder, Denver, littleton, etc... Want a pretty cheap area, but not ghetto, and where people are pretty chill and easy to meet... Any information would be awesome

  1. There are a lot of really great places around there. I lived there for 7 years and moved away 3 years ago and am trying to move back asap.

Boulder is an awesome area, but if you are very republican you might not like it. Not to say republicans can't live there, but it is mostly democrats. You can bike or walk around a lot of it and they have great public transportation. It's a college town though so if that or the democrats bother you, you might want to steer clear of it. I personally love it though. It's also somewhat expensive.

Denver is good but it's relatively hard to find a good neighborhood right in Denver. If you did want to look into living actually in Denver in a low cost area, check out hearthstone cohousing. It's pretty awesome. Because it's a community, it's very easy to meet people. Most other parts of Denver are going to be pretty ghetto though.

My second favorite town in that area after Boulder is Golden. It's very awesome. Some areas might be more expensive because a lot of people want to live there, but it's a great place to live. Downtown Golden is the kind of area where you can walk around to different little shops and restaurants so that's good for meeting people and also just really cool.

Arvada is pretty cool also. It's less small town, walking the streets, oriented than a place like Golden or Boulder, which could be good or bad for you depending on what you like. It's a nice place to live though and you can find affordable living there.

Those would be the top places I would consider. Denver maybe a little less than the others but it is still pretty cool.

  2. Ok, Aurora is kinda tricky.  There are some nice areas, but it's mostly ghett-o in my opinion.

Boulder is..interesting.  Major college town, so it would probably be easy to meet people.  It's quite liberal, and very expensive!!!  Maybe you could find an affordable appt. though.  Nearby Broomfield and Lafayette are nice bedroom communities!

There are lots of cool neighborhoods in/around Denver.  There are many lofts in the Lower Downtown (LoDo) district with a younger, single population.  Not cheap tho!

Washington park is full of young, upper-middle class families and preppy singles. Cool restaurants and shops.

Same for the Highlands (not Highlands Ranch) neighborhood (a bit more affordable/ laid back though).

Uptown is kind of a cool area- very close to downtown.  Close to City Park also.

Littleton is a nice suburb.  It seems very vanilla, very safe.

Cheesman Park- very nice area, can be quite pricey.  The park itself is notorious for being a g*y hangout.

Umm, those are just a few off the top of my head! Best Wishes!

  3. I agree with Quake, the actual city of Denver has some great neighborhoods. You just gotta come check them out. Washington Park area is the most fanstastic place, but very pricey.

  4. If you like unique neighborhoods where you can walk places, you should live in the actual city of Denver. If you like sprawl and driving from strip mall to strip mall, choose the suburbs. Also, parts of Aurora are more shady than any neighborhood in Denver. Also, Denver is cheaper than California and Washington (if you mean DC). So, anywhere will seem reasonable.

Check out www.hubbuzz.com for superificial descriptions of the neighborhoods and ask us for the dirt.

  5. ok to teh second answer- thats kind of mean! LOL

i live in aurora and i really like it here. Um, aurora public schools yea are pretty ghetto, but i wouldnt say enough to be like dangerous. But if u dont like that, then u can have ur kids [ if u ever have any] in cherry creek schools. But a lot of places in auroa are nice, and not ghetto. But theres nothing wrong with ghetto LOL

or you can try westminster, my cousin live over there, but its kind of ghetto too...

  6. I lived in Littleton, CO for 2 years and I can say it's a family area, your not to far from the mountains, they're are many different types of neighborhoods, all staying around the lower 500,000 and less some older neighborhoods and some newer, but its a family town with great schools and recreational centers.

  7. I agree with the first answer, I live in Littleton Colorado all my life. I'm sure there are nice places all over but I can say I love living in Littleton.

Try Jeffco (its a county in Littleton) The mountains are right there so you shouldn't have any trouble getting to the slopes. It is more a family county its got the best high schools in the state, so if your looking for a place to party or clubbing all the time then Littleton is not the place.

The income here in Jeffco is mostly middle-middle class all the way up to the upper class like millions of dollars
