Best places to ski/snowboard in the southeast?

appachalian ski mtn and sugar mtn in nc have the most snow now. 9" forcasted for tonight. happy new year.

I'd suggest Appalachian Ski Mtn for newbies and Sugar Mtn for those wanting more of a challenge.  If you are traveling up to ski for just one day for and don't plan on making it a full time hobby, I strongly reccomend that you and your family/friends ski--it will result in an overall better experience.  Snowboarding is much harder to pick up and can lead to a miserable first day on the slopes--unless you want to pursue snowboarding as a lifetime sport, ski your first time.
