Question:

Best places to stargaze in england?

Ever since I moved to London, I've had a lot of trouble seeing stars in the sky because of the stupid light pollution. Does anyone know any places(preferably near London) where there is the chance to see many many stars in sky, like somewhere where I can lie on a hill and just look up without having to use a telescope? Thanks for any answers:)

  1. Brighton?

Not too far from London, and also a nice place to be (not in peak season, though!)

  2. Try it in daylight. Theres this great big yellow thing that comes out quite often. If thats not a star I don't know what is.

  3. I cant really help you with that one,

but you could always keep trying on a clear night :)

    Good luck :)

    xx

  4. West Dorset, very little light pollution.

  5. find a large hill with no trees in the countryside away from the bright lights then wait for darkness and hope it does not get cloudy

  6. Sheffield

  7. A little village called Seething near Norwich, Norfolk.  It's so dark there at nights that they have their own little observatory.  Many times I have just layed down and gazed up at the stars without a telescope and seen such a beautiful sky.

  8. and where away from street and building lights .

i live in the middle of town n can see stars from my window most nite if its clear

  9. Top of ben nevis.

  10. Sheffield as suggested might be a good idea but basically anywhere away from light pollution, look on maps, maybe google maps? Look for large parks, nature reserves etc, anywhere that is a good few miles from areas of light pollution.

I live in a little valley in south Wales that is about 6 miles from the city centre and even though there is still a little amount of light pollution it is still so low in comparison to being in the city that the stars literally jump out at you when you look towards the sky.
