  1. only 4 days! I love Bremen but I lived there sooo. .I just like the people better more down to earth....bavarians can be annoying

If you go to Bremen you will also be close to Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Sylt all great places tho sylt would be off season by then but still fun I went there this past march..I fly into frankfurt but just go from there to north or berlin

Ich spricht Deutsch...Lehren Sie eine bische Deutsch!!

    Farht gut!

  2. Rhine/Mosel River valley

  3. Be sure to visit the cathedral in Cologne.  It's beautiful, especially at night.  Tour Frankfurt on the Ebbbelwei Express, and if you can, take a Rhine cruise to see all the old castles.  Bonn's city centre is a great place just to walk around, visit the pubs and restaurants.  Have fun!

  4. In Frankfurt you should have a walk through the old part of the city (all arround the "Römerberg") its directly at the river Main. There is the also the old city hall called "Römer".

In Bonn you should have a walk through the city (pedestrian area) and visit the "Beethoven House". Also very interesting is the "Museumsmeile" with several Museums, the best is the "Haus der Geschichte" (house of history). There you will see the history of Germany with many exhibits of the german history. At if the weather is good a walk through the parc called "rheinaue" I would recommend. And last but not least the "Post Tower" that's where I'm working ;-) it's the building of the german postal operator.

In cologne there are so many thinks to see, the cathedral, the chocolate museum, the zoo, a boat trip on the river Rhein, a walk through the old Town directly at the river, the "Römisch-Germanisches-Museum" a museum about the Romans in Cologne and you must have a beer called "Kölsch" in Cologne at a Brauhaus (brewery) I could recommend the "Früh" or the "Malzmühle" (the brewery where Bill Clinton had a beer when he visited Cologne).

Enjoy your trip and have a look on teh websites of te cities.

  5. buy 'rough guides' to frankfurt, cologne and bonn as they have been compiled by travellers who know the best places to visit etc.

  6. I lived in Cologne as a student in 1978 and returned last year. My favorite places included the Cathedral (a must). and the Roman-German museum next door. Many people do no know that Cologne was founded by the romans and was one of th elarger cities in the later Roman Empire. This museum tells the tale. Brauerie zur Malzmuhle is also highly recommended (avoid "Alt Koln by the catherdal). They have a website and are at Heumarkt 6 (note--this is a little trick to find as most (but not all) of Heumarkt is *north* of the Deutzer bridge, while Zur Malzmuele is in the small part of Heumarkt just south of the bridge (behind the tram station). Very typical Cologne food--but remember that "Halver Hahn" is not chicken but bread and cheese! There's a good Thai restarant (Bangkok) on the main part of Heumarkt, Gaffel Kolsch has a brew pub in Altmarkt, and there's a nice "doner" place in the alley near the Heumarkt parking garage close to the river. Bonn is not much now that the capital is gone, except for the Beethoven house--if you go, stop in Bruehl to see Schloss Augustusburg--it was used for state dinners and is pretty neat, especially the hunting lodge. There is also an amusment park in Bruehl (Phantasialand). If you like either old religious art or modern art, the Wallraf-Richartz museum is recommended. You also shoud visit some of the area churches--oddly enought, while the most famous church in Cologne is the Gothic catherdral, Cologne has many, many fine Romanesque churches that are worth seeing, so over 1000 years old. You can also find remants of the old roman wall and a well preserved roman tower. Do go to the tourist office and get a "Cologne Pass" which, for a fee gives unlimited travel on the transit system and discounts on museums, etc.
