Does anyone know what the best site/platform is for a casual trader?

  1. Are you in Canada or in the United States?  There are a number that might meet your needs:

    Qtrade

    Etrade

    TDWaterhouse  TDAmeritrade

    et al

    Use your search engine and you will find comparisons of the different platforms.  There are minor differences and you can find the one that best meets your needs

    I found that Thinkorswim has plans to offer a Canadian site but at the moment are not able to accept RRSP funds

    Is the best platform.

    Charles Schwab is a good platform and great for new investors.

    Scottrade is good for the somewhat experianced trader.

  4. I just opened an account with Scottrade and it seems pretty user friendly.  There's tutorials to explain things, and you can use the real-time streaming quotes for free.  I buy stocks once a month, and it is perfect for me.
