I have another suggestion for you, entirely. Rather than pay for an insurance policy for funeral expenses, you can go to a funeral parlor and cemetery and pre-pay your death expenses. You can buy everything from a casket or funeral urn (if you prefer cremation) to a cemetery plot and marker. Most companies offer plans where you can pay over time, with financing. That way, you can fix the costs, and make all of the decisions during your lifetime, so your family won't have to make those painful decisions at the time of your death, when they are in mourning, or scramble around for the money. At 73, life insurance would be pretty expensive, if it's even available. Most term policies limit applicants to age 70 (or younger), though whole life or universal life policies might be available.

It's possible you'll find one, but beware of scams. Your agent may know of a company that could provide coverage - this would be an easier process than hunting around for price quotes online. As with anything, consult a trusted, qualified advisor.
