Question:

Best programming language to learn (for a JOB!)

Well, I'd like to know what's the best programming language (difficulty-wise, payment-wise, most searched, and etc.) to learn.

I have the basics of Python, Pascal and C. But I heard no one uses them anymore, and no one needs Python, Pascal and C programmers anymore.

So, what's the best language to learn? REMEMBER - difficulty-wise, payment-wise, and most searched.

  1. Personally for a language to learn from the ground up, I would suggest learning Adobe Flex.  The salaries for that language are continuing to grow and the language presence on the web is growing as well.

In addition to the language I would also become familiar with the Javascript frameworks like jQuery and MooTools.

I am trying to work on my jQuery-fu and intend to do the flex in a week course I linked to after I take a week's vacation to clear my brain.

  2. Most searched in Java, but .Net is easier but less paid.

I suggest starting with one of the above. Anther possibility to learn PHP in case you get oriented to web applications and technologies.

  3. C# is the next thing, but java is payed better.

    BTW, python is used widely.

  4. Difficulty and payment wise Visual C++.

I search for highly paid engineers in some years ago. I found that Visual C++ programmers are getting more than any others.

Also Visual C++ programming is more difficult that java and its clone C#.

    Most searched:

It is not obligation that by searching java is in top, but question arise that why such searching happened. I mean why people spent most of time for searching rather than code him/herself. It may be possible that its documentation is not so good.

My personal opinion is that before go to any language do some survey in your local software houses and put your question onto him..

I know it is very difficult for anyone including myself.

Finally i prefare C# with Oracle database programming.
