The answer depends on the television/content provider.  I have to assume that you are talking about DISH Network since you called it a pvr instead of dvr.  If that is the case, they don't have many options for you anyway.  If you are talking about DIRECTV the same is almost as true.  Their new DVR is better than other late model in some ways, but lacks in other functions that were standard in their TiVO models.

As for Cable Provider DVR's, they all lack in ways.  I'd say the Moto seems more reliable then the SciAtl box.  If you have other questions post more specifics and I'll do my best to answer.
