The game of football is a beautiful one, with eleven players on the field from both sides.
The glory and the resentment that always comes with either winning or losing a game are always shared among the players and the coach. Some players are more accredited given the situation and with the outcome of their play.
Football is a team game so everything is dependent on coordination, team work and communication- though the game always makes stars from two players- goal scorers and goal stoppers.
Arsenal like all the other big clubs in the English Premier League, have had their share of extraordinary goalies so here is the list of the most talented goalkeepers to have played for the Gunners.
Frank Moss, 1931-37
First comes the great Frank Moss who was a part of the Gunners in the thirties and played in the first team for six years.
Moss used to play for Oldham Athletic and his performances there impressed Arsenal manager.
Herbert Chapman- the then manager of the Gunners was interested in the player along with assistant manager Bob Wall.
He was finally recruited to Gunners and made his debut in the game against the Blues, and from then to the time he retired, he was always present in Arsenal’s starting line up.
Frank Moss constantly kept coming on until the next four seasons, and in his second year he made the pivotal change in the team that gave Arsenal their first division trophy.
He made some heart stopping saves in the following season and his bravery was acknowledged by all. He always used to have the final word in the drama and because of this player, Sunderland were at the top of the division, and Gunners were only a point behind
them.
Then it all came down to the match between Arsenal and Everton that was held at Goodison Park. If Arsenal won that match, they would have won the division title.
Moss sadly had a major shoulder injury and had to play out at the left wing.
Despite of his injury and playing out of his position, Moss netted the first goal for Arsenal in that match and gave the Gunners their two to nil victory and this goal remained to be his only goal of his entire career.
Given that he is a goal keeper, this is all very impressive, even as he was playing out of position.
His skills, bravery and endless talent made him make five appearances for the Three Lions and he is undoubtedly one of the greatest Arsenal players to grace the team.
