Hi I am looking to go to France on holiday this year. I would really love a quiet, charming little village close to the beach with preferably as little tourists as possible. I am going with my husband and our daughter. I would be grateful if anyone could give me any suggestions?

  1. you want to go where the FROGS LIVE? HA! the french are evcil people who hate americans!! why go there, when the beaches of hawaii are so much better!

  2. Languedoc-Roussillon is quieter & cheaper than Provence Cote d'Azur. There are kms of sand dunes and quiet beaches, as well as many areas of historic interest.

  3. The best advice I can give is to go west of Marseille to Languedoc Roussillon, towards the Spanish border, rather than east to the Cote d'Azur.

The towns, villages and beaches are far less crowded and prices are generally much lower.  I have by no means been to many of the resorts, but I was happy with Valras-Plage, Canet-Plage and Cap d'Agde.

  4. The basque country !!! Very beautiful ! Beach , nice villages ( like " Ascain " ) and near spain ! A lot of spa ( therapy  with ocean water ) there.

  7. Aww.. don;t go to southern France..

St. Malo or Cancale in Eastern France is beautiful as well. Not too many tourists, and there are lovely views as well. If not relaxing at the beach, you can even go see le Mont St. Michel or go see ruined walls of Normandie!

  8. I've been all along the coast from Cannes to Monaco and I have to tell you that the beaches that I saw were covered in stones, not sand; unless you go to a high class hotel that ships in their own sand.

But I suggest you get yourself a map of the Cote' d'Azur and start poking around tripadvisor.com

Villfranche Sur Mer is adorable - everything you could

want in a picture postcard french seaside town. In fact

I have a framed painting print of it above my right shoulder.

Perpignan area may be quieter and less costly.

This is near the border of Spain, on the Mediterranean.
