Best restaurant in Manhattan under $300.?

I'm looking for a place in Manhattan (preferably close or in the theatre district) to go to dinner before a show we have tickets for.

I'm able to spend around $300 and would prefer not to go over.. This includes tax, tip and most likely a bottle of wine (if not, other alcoholic drinks).

The kind of food is really up for grabs as both of us enjoy any type of food. Though I don't prefer anything spicy due to an allergy to peppers.

Anyway, if someone could recommend a place with a romantic setting in that budget, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  1. Carmines is a popular Italian restaurant in the theatre district.  Good food and good wine for definitely under $300.

  2. Dude, if you have 300.00 dollars for dinner, seriously, go to a small diner with good food for about 50.00 and either save the rest or give it to charity. That's what is wrong with the world, people who are willing to pay 300.00 for DINNER. For goshsakes, what a waste.

  3. Les Halles on Park Ave. between 28th and 29th.  Make a reservation.  The food is simple, but amazing and well priced.  The wine and beer selection is vast.  The service is good.  My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there on a recent trip to Manhattan.  Drawback - noisy; not too close to the theatre district.

  4. you really don't have to spend $300. ther are plenty of great restaurants for 2 people that you can spend under this amount. try ciros right off broadway. food is great wine is fair priced parking across the street  walk to your show

  5. My most favorite restaurants in the city are owned by Marco Canora (formerly of Craft) and Paul Grieco. They own Hearth (1st Ave at 12st), a new wine bar called Terroir (12th St between 1st ave and Ave A) and a theater district restaurant called Insieme (7th ave between 50th and 51st st).

I will focus on Insieme because it is close to the theater. It is in the Michelangelo Hotel. It is not very trendy so it shouldn't be hard to get a good reservation and it shouldn't be too crowded. Everything there was spot on. The dining room was beautiful and not too loud. It felt very intimate and romantic. The food, in my opinion, is the very best you could get for that price (same goes for Hearth). It is Italian. One side of the menu features classics and the other side of the menu features more modern italian fare. I recommend mixing and matching. Everything I had there was fantastic and they have an extensive and fun wine list, with knowledgeable waiters and sommelier.

And pay no mind to the man who says $300 for dinner is ridiculous. This is a reasonable price to celebrate a special occasion in NYC with drinks and dinner.

  6. Kellari Seafood Taverna

19 West 44th Street New York City

    212-221-0144

Receive a complimentary bottle of champagne during your next visit or special event at either Kellari Taverna or at Kellari's Parea. We'll send you a reminder of your special event coming soon or simply, notify us two weeks prior to your reservation and we will gladly deliver a complimentary bottle of Champagne to your table.

  7. The Theater District has never been known for being the home home of great eating.  I suggest that you go slightly go out of  the area and get yourself a great meal and grab.  You might want to try one of Gordon Ramsey's Restaurants in the London Hotel,Probably Maze--3 to 4 weeks for a reservation,  (54th St)

March --A tasting Menu- one of what I consider the best restaurant

    Piccalilli's-Terrrance Brennan's Restaurant- French 60th off CPW
