From chennai go to

Trichy-300 km

There you can visit srirangam renganatha swamy temple, jumbukeshwar temple thiruvanaikal temple, Samayapuram mariyamman temple(very famous), Uchipillaiyar kovil(ganapathi temple), Ujjain kali temple(one worshipped by vikramaditya)

From trichy to madurai(around 120-150kms)

At madurai visit madurai meenakshi temple(world famous), visit the kal alazhagar temple, visit the lord muruga's one of the six abode thiruparunkundram

From madurai to rameshwaram(around 130kms),

There visit the famous shiva temple, also visit the durga temple at devanampattinam(nava grahas at sea)
