  1. You will want to pursue a Master's Degree in urban planning, and pepper your academic experience with plenty of volunteering/pro-bono experience, to work with under-served/low-income communities. You must be able to work in at least one language other than English (French is a good choice, as is Spanish, Russian and Arabic). A minor or second degree in economics, international development or gender-related studies would be helpful.

    However, I'm not sure the World Bank employs urban planners. That's not what they are focused on -- they are focused on economics
