  2. Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay region is the capitol of seafood-- no question.  New Orleans isn't close. They might be number one in sauces and junk to combine with it but for the real thing, we are the top. Best oysters, best crabs-- and we know how to cook them-- STEAMED-- not boiling all the flavor away. We have shrimp and the world renown Rock fish.

  3. crime in the city is OVER-RATED...downtown New Orleans is incredible, and i have never felt threatened there. Always safe, even on new years...anyway, best seafood outside the city..Brothers' ole New Orleans Cafe (westbank)...awesome food!!!

  4. I am from New Orleans and you really shouldn't worry about "all the crime" in the city, because if you go to a nice seafood restaurant in downtown New Orleans there will be nothing to worry about. As long as you go around 5 or 6 you should be good.

  5. Middendoff's - on I-55 N.

It's about a 1/2 hr drive. An old traditional seafood restaurant.

Well worth the trip and a scenic drive.

Maryland seafood is OK - if you like bland food.  Totally different than New Orleans.

  6. Middendorf's is the best.  It's about 25-30 miles away from the city and they serve the best seafood.  Look em up, you won't regret it!

  7. Unfortunately, unless you know someone you may just have to flip a coin. Outside of New Orleans , the best place for seafood is going to be someones moms' kitchen.
