  1. the old clam house on bayshore

  2. Bubba Gumps and the Crab house on pier 39!

  3. Scomas by far!!!!!!!

  4. Joe's Crab Shack

It's fun and the food is great.

Plus all the waiters and some of the customers dance every hour to some wild song. It's really funny.

  5. Probably ACQUA

  6. Why do the !#@$% tourists always insist on jumping in on these questions and suggesting the worst tourist dumps in town?  Stay as far away as you can from Pier 39 and most of Fisherman's Wharf.  The three best seafood restaurants in San Francisco are:

    1.  Aqua, for very upscale nouvelle California style seafood.  They do the most creative and delicious things with fish you have ever seen.  But mortgage the house first, it is pricey.

    2.  Swan's Oyster Depot.  Tiny little lunch counter in lower Nob Hill on Polk near California Street, that has a line out the door and down the block all day long.  That's because they have the freshest seafood you have ever tasted.  Try the crab louie.

    3.  The only place near Fisherman's Wharf I will go to is Scoma's.  It's authentic Italian seafood like my Italian grandmothers used to make.

There are also a few places around town that have great ethnic variations on seafood:  Ebisu in the Inner Sunset for sushi, Slanted Door or Bong Su for Vietnamese, Limon in the Mission for Peruvian.

Anyone mentioning chain food dreck like Bubba Gump should be permanently banned from this web site.  Harummmppphhhh.  ;-)

  7. My three favorites:

Tadich Grill 240 California-The Original Cold Day Restaurant: An old boy’s kind of place that has been around since 1849. Great seafood, chops and sourdough. Stiff drinks, no reservations, but counter seats are first come first served.

Hays Street Grill 320 Hayes at Gough. Fresh fish shines at this neighborhood favorite. They specialize in grilling fish and then serving it with your choice of sauces that only enhance the taste of the fish and shellfish.

And though Aqua is good it is pricey it can't hold a candle for ambiance to  Farallon – 450 Post- Seafood served in an amazing underwater garden setting $$$$

  8. Hi,

The Franciscan Crab Restaurant located in the fisherman's wharf is really good. You can see Alcatraz from their. I also like Eastside West, they have a raw bar and a fantastic menu as well.

  9. I second Bubba Gumps on Pier 39!
