  1. Flax is quite healthy, it contains omega fatty acids, magnesium, fiber, and much more nutrients.

Pumpkin seeds are also very nutritious.

Hemp seeds are also very good and growing in popularity.

Sunflower and sesame seeds are also good.

  2. Sesame has about the highest concentration of calcium as any food. Flax has good omega 3 fatty acids, Pumpkin (squash) are known for zinc, and chia is considered a superfood of the highest order.

Amaranth is up there too. :)

I really like quinoa for it's versatility.

But a variety is a really good idea so that you'll get the whole range of nutrition and don't get tired of any one and to do the most good including hemp and millet. Even some we traditionally think of as spice such as fennel seed are high in nutrition or even the coconut. :)

For instance, Brazil nuts are a seed, and are very high in selenium but also a good product to buy because it encourages keeping the rainforest intact since the trees don't produce without the rest of the ecosystem around them.

All are quite high in protein, usually iron and calcium, as well as most other minerals and also lots of fiber. Little power houses but that makes sense as they are the beginning of life from which some might big plants grow. Which brings up that legumes/pulses (beans, peas, lentils) are seeds too and nutritional superstars as well.

  5. I just recently found out how great pine nuts are!
