  1. Hang yr. clothes on the line in the summer. Try flushing after every 2nd or 3rd pee. Put the lid down if it bothers you. Try a ceiling fan instead of an air conditioner (works great in an apartment) Replace bulbs with curly fluorescent one. Replace fridge, stove, etc with energy efficient one.

Best I did - purchased a front load washer. More clothes, less detergent, less hydro, However detergent costs almost 2X ("HE" called "High Efficiency" type)

I also use a hand cranking, rechargeable lantern (Indigo) during night time excursions to bathroom or ealy risers for work.

Perk - recharge home cellphone, digital camera batteries, etc. at work (or in car if drive fair distance, use DC charger)

    Happy savings !

  2. Hi Yes!  Severn Trent Water give (free!) bags of crystals to put in your cistern.  The crystals expand and the bag will fill with water.  This increases the level of water in your cistern thus every time you flush, you use 1litre of water less!  Alternatively you could just put a brick or other similar object in your cistern.  Further advice from www.stwater.co.uk/playingyourpart or 0800 783 4444

  3. Some simple tips to save water:

    1. While brushing your teeth, close the tap.

    2. Don't bath with buckets of water. Instead, bath with the water neede by you

    3. Water your plants only once a day. Don't waste water on plants. They need only a sufficient amount of water.

    4. Don't waste excess of water in cleaning the floor, washing the clothes.

Some simple tips to save energy:

    1. Switch off the fan and lights as you get out of the room.

    2. Don't use fans when it's pleasant weather. You can very well sit outside.

  4. Do not wash. Do not use a computer to ask questions on yahoo. Lots of things.

  5. - Phantom load...everything with a remote uses power whether it's on or not.  Unplug anyting with a remote (or  ac lock) until you want to use it or need it (a power strip works well for that) Same goes for computers - shut them off and unplug them!.

-Turn down the setting on your hot water tank - no lower than 110 degrees.

-Wash clothes only in cold water and only a full load

-This one is a little gross to some people, but don't flush every time you use the toilet (#1)

-When a regular light bulb goes out, replace with a CFL (75% less electricity per bulb) - I know that doesn't really fit your criteria but it is one of the most effective things the average homeowner can do.

-Keep the fridge as full as possible and shut the door as soon as possible

-Run the air conditioner in cycles if a window air conditioner (1/2 hour on, 15 min off) tuen up the thermostat 3 degrees if central air, 4-5 degrees at night - or better yet, turn the thermostat down 1 degree past the point the unit turns on

-make sure your windows are shut and locked (unless your letting in a nice breeze

-water the lawn in the evenings or morning - better yet, collect rain water in buckets or barrels and use that to water

  6. flick ur powerpoints off when ur not using them. energy saving light bulbs are an easy one.  good on u

  7. Next to the refrigerator, your clothes dryer uses the most energy of any appliance in your home. So do what that other person said and dry clothes on a line.

You can also walk or ride a bike to reduce your fuel consumption.

  8. Wash you clothes in cold water. Try to stay away from the dry cleaners. WHen using the AC or whatever you use, when its hot out, turn it up one degree, and when its cold, turn it down one degree (at least). Unplug cords and appliances when your done using them.

  9. well it really isnt an everyday thing but something that keeps alot out of landfills including nasty chemicals  is car batteries.. im not really sure if there is a special place around canton that will take them but i do know if you take them to a treatment place they will give you big money for them.. my friend made $206 on 21 batteries i doubt you have 21 car batteries but idk i guess someone who does will read this lol

    hope that helped....................someone

  10. I love it when people ask these questions, I try to do a lot for the environment too.  You could try using cold water when washing your clothes.  Turn off all the lights and tv's when your not in the room.  Unplug things you don't use daily.  You could try wearing some clothes more than once before washing them, to save water.  Use public transportation or ride a bike.  And other simple things help too.

  11. Today Im Find water hybrid cars. You heard it right! Use water to supplement gasoline; enhance fuel efficiency by as much as 100%; reduce pollution; control global warming by partially running your car on pure water!Did I say we can prevent unnecessary Iraq war too!http://car-run-on-water-reviews.blogspot...

  12. Unplug chargers when you are not using them.
