  1. The zig zags street its called Lombard st. This is a cool place to visit because this one is the tallest street in the world.

Alcatraz is a hot touristic spot, but it's mostly for adult people. honestly, I don't recommend it for you guys. Better go to the Golden Gate Bridge, and take a walk on it. Take some pictures and enjoy the view of the city.

Also, take a walk on downtown SF along market street, and ride a cable car. It will cost $5 per person but it's really cool.

There's so much places in Sf to hang out and have a good time.

    Other hot spots could be:

    Chinatown

    Fisheman Wharf

    Embarcadero

    Golden Gate Park

    Japanese tea garden

    Have a great trip!

  2. I agree with the first answer except that Alcatraz isn't that much of an adult tourist attraction. Most of my friends have been there by the time they were 14.

The hippy street your talking about is called the haight, ashbury is one of the cross streets. Its a really fun part to go and shop. The only bad thing about it is that their is a bad homeless population. But seriously other than that its probably the funnest place to go in SF.

  3. If you are interested in history Alcatraz is good spot to visit.  The ferry ride over and back is a wonderful way to see the city from the bay.

In addition to visiting the Golden Gate Bridge as someone else suggested be sure to stop at Ft. Point under the bridge.  It is the last Civil War Era Ft. built and by the time it was finished it was obsolete.  In addition to a creepy vibe it gives you some unique views of the bridge.

Some other historical sites you might enjoy:

Barbary Coast Trail - This walking tour will give you a great overall view of the city's history and take you through the heart of the city including North Beach and Chinatown.  One suggestion when you get to Coit Tower - Great views of the bay, incredible WPA era murals decend to the Embarcadero using Filbert Street Steps on the east side of Telegraph hill for a view of how people have lived here since the gold rush days and a chance to see the famous Wild Parrots.

Wells Fargo Musuem - A free musuem with info about the gold rush.  Montgomery at California.
