Question:

Best skateboard for an intermediate skater? Buy a complete or buy everything separately? What brand?

Hi I am, let's say a beginner-intermediate skateboarder that means I can do stuff like ollies, shove and pop shove its, kicflips, varial kickflips, almost heelflips.

I want to buy a new skateboard because my old one, no-brand-totally-for-beginners skateboard is sort of crappy.

I want to do tricks on flatground but I want to ride in skateparks, too, both a lot. I also plan to start learning grinds and slides.

I know that I want to have abec 7 bearings because I don't want to stop while going up every little ramp in a skatepark <cough> my old skateboard.

What will be the best skateboard for me? Should I buy a complete skateboard, like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Plan-B-Danny-Way-Metallic-7-62-Skateboard-Deck-Complete_W0QQitemZ330256582333QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item330256582333&_trkparms=72:552|39:1|66:2|65:12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1318

It's cheap and it's Plan B and I'd just buy abec 7 bearings and I would be done.

Or maybe you think I should choose something else? Buy everything separatly - trucks, wheels... If yes, then which?

What should I choose: Plan B, Element, Zero, Birdhouse, Toy Machine? Seriously, I have no idea

Buy a no-brand or plain deck one more time?

Which lenght should I choose?

I don't want to spend more than 75$ on my skateboard and I wouldn't mind spending less.

Wow I wrote a lot but if you could please help me I would be very grateful. Thanks!

  1. I have used many different decks that have all broken within two weeks. Blank decks such as Moose suck. Do NOT buy them. I have used mini logo decks and they are worth what you pay for them. I have recently found a deck that has lasted me about 1 1/2 months so far and still hasn't broken. It has gotten wet and still amazingly performs the same! It's the skate warehouse store deck. It costs $29.99($37.54 w/ shipping) and comes with free grip. Go here to view it... http://www.skatewarehouse.com and click the decks link. Also, they have really good deals for buying a complete board. For you I would suggest the following set-up:

Deck: Skatewarehouse Bamboo core deck or Maple Shop Deck(whichever is in stock) if you wear a size 10.5 shoe or higher should get a 7.75 deck size. if lower, get a 7.63

Trucks: Krux(they're are VERY good trucks) or at least get trucks with a round kingpin. Original trucks that have the nut and bolt king pin get caught on rails and coping.

    Wheels: Bones

Grip: get Mob, Black Magic, or the free Skate Warehouse grip that comes with every board for free @ skatewarehouse.com

    Hardware: Whatever, they're all good

    Bearings: Bones Redz

Also, if you buy a name brand deck at regular price such as a Think Deck for $34.99, you get the store deck for $10 off so its a really good deal.

  2. Yes you should build a complete with a zero deck, independent trucks, spitfire wheels, and trust me on this you want BONES RED BEARINGS. For hardware you want shortys and for griptape you want mob grip. Peace bro hope i helped.

  3. If your unsure then I'd give a complete set up a shot. When that gets worn, you can replace the deck with a different brand and over time you will find one that "feels right". Likewise with the wheels and trucks - when they wear out, buy a different brand and find the ones you like. After all, you have to start somewhere.

Personally I prefer Ricta Originals, Destructo trucks and Enjoi boards, but that's just me. Everybody has different skating preferences, so just try a few brands out.

(The set up you are looking at seems a bit sketchy..it might be worth looking at some others with better trucks)

  4. id say go to zumiez, most people are very helpful there and know what you need depending on what kind of skating youll be doing

personally i reccoment getting a board thats 7.63 since youll be doing both flatground and ramps, and get reds bearings, there so much better
