Question:

Best smoothie recipe?

I was just hoping I could get everyone's opinions on the best ingredients to use to make a smoothie! I like mine somewhat thick and not too icy. I DON'T like adding juice or peanut butter to smoothies and prefer milk/yogurt/etc combos. I especially like bananas and am not so fond of strawberries. Please post your favorite recipes and how much of each ingredient to use to yield about 2 cups or so.

    I don't think smoothies should have ice cream or frozen yogurt in them.  They are no longer smoothies then, they are shakes.  


  2. I don't really measure everything and I just throw it in the blender until it looks right.

    1 banana

    1 small container berry or other flavored yogurt

    A few handfuls of blueberries (or frozen berries if I have those on hand)

    2 tablespoons honey

    Splash of milk

    Another one I make is with peaches and blueberries and when peaches are in season it is the most wonderful smoothie ever!

    1 small container peach flavored yogurt

    1 ripe peach, peeled and cubed

    1-2 handfuls blueberries

    1 tablespoon lemon juice

    Splash of milk

  3. ok i tried this and it is SUPER good i don't think i have ever tasted a smoothie better than this recipe!! lol hope u like!!!! :3

  4. I've tried almost all of these with my Girl Scout troop and my daughters' friends.  The fruit is frozen, which gives the smoothies a really good texture.  Pina Colada is my favorite.

    Fruit Smoothies

    Berry Blast

    1 cup apple juice

    1 1/2 cups lemonade

    1 cup frozen raspberries

    1/2 cup frozen strawberries

    1 cup raspberry sherbet

    Peach Refresher

    2 cups peach nectar or apple juice

    1 cup vanilla frozen yogurt

    1/2 banana

    1 cup peach yogurt

    1 1/2 cups frozen peach slices

    Pina Colada

    5 Tbs. Coconut milk

    2 1/2 cups pineapple juice

    1/2 cup vanilla ice cream

    1/2 frozen banana (chunks)

    1 1/2 cups frozen pineapple chunks

    Raspberry Sunrise

    2 1/2 cups orange juice

    1 1/2 cups frozen raspberries

    1 cup raspberry sherbet

    Raspberry Cream

    1 cup orange juice

    1 cup raspberry yogurt

    1 cup vanilla frozen yogurt

    1/2 frozen banana (chunks)

    1 1/2 cup frozen raspberries

    Strawberry Banana Supreme

    1 cup strawberry nectar or apple juice

    1 cup milk

    1 frozen banana

    1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries

    1 cup strawberry yogurt

    Pour all liquid ingredients into the blender.  Add all frozen ingredients.  Blend at MIX setting for 30 seconds then blend at SMOOTH setting until smooth. While the machine is running, move the stir stick around counter-clockwise to aid mixing. Serve immediately. Each recipe serves 3-5.
