Question:

Best starter bike to ride with two people?

I'm going to be getting a bike in about a week and I would like to get one that I would be able to ride with another person on the back. I would have to be able to drive it on a 65mph hwy without any problem and also would like something that would be comfortable for longer drives. I have looked at the sv650s, the gs500f, zzr 600, and the ninja 500r. I'm not sure if any of those would be the all-around best or if there's some other kind that I should be looking at. Thanks!

  1. you should wait till you know what you are doing before risking someone elses life.

  2. Kudos to you for taking motorcycle safety then getting the bike!!

If you are looking for your rider to be comfortable (a plus I'd say!) you might want to look at the 883 Sportster - this is a good starter bike, is plenty fast, and has great trade-in value - a PLUS in bikes!

Make sure you have plenty of miles and hours under your belt, before you put anyone on whichever bike you choose - It's a totally different feel, depending on how THEY ride behind you...

    Stay safe!

  3. How about a BMW, assuming you have riding experience?

  4. Any of those bikes you mentioned would be fine.  But when you take the safety course they're going to tell you to wait a while before you put a passenger on the bike.  I would get comfortable being on the bike first before I put someone on the back.

  5. Rear Suspension is a huge thing you want to look at for two.  I'd say the Honda Shadow 750cc or maybe the Yamaha Star 40ci would be a great choice.

  6. The SV650s is a fuel injected VTWIN. The ZZR 600 is a carbuerated inline 4 cylinder. The Ninja 500R is an inline 2 cyl. The GS500F is pretty much a four wheeler engine.

The V-Twin Suzuki SV650S is going to be the most versatile. It has the torque of the Twin, smooth response of fuel injection, and the most CC's for towing your significant other around. Switch out the front end with a GSX'R's, swap rubber and you have a race ready bike without the uber-agressive ergonomics.

Suzuki has the new GSX650F. Honda also has the CBR600F4i still in production. The F4i or ZZR600, personally sounds the best, I think, with a slip on muffler.

  7. A new rider really shouldn't be involving another person until they're a seasoned rider.

  8. By the sound of it you either just getting started or you haven't been on  a saddle for a long while, if this is the case, please avoid having a passenger on long and high speed trips for at least first season of riding. remember you most likely wont get a second chance in many bike miss haps and by having a passenger you're doubling the risk of a miss hap.

be safe and enjoy your ride.

look into 650 to 750 range bikes, they give the best ride for the money and you won't grow out of them for the first couple of seasons. BMW bikes would give you best all round performance but at a premium price.

  9. As a beginer try riding yourself for two years before you hurt someone else.

Sporty are a beginer bike, now thats funny.
