  1. we used straw.

  2. The best is straw as they are less likely to eat it than hay plus it is cheaper. Mine also tend to construct nests easier with it. I usually find putting a bit of sawdust under the straw can help draw away any moisture and keep the bedding fresher for longer. Hope that helps :-)

  3. Straw. I'd even suggest some shavings.

  4. I use straw. We have tried shavings but the hens just toss them out of the nest. They just dont like them for some reason, they would rather sit on the wooden box than shavings.oh well maybe my hens are just weird.Good Luck

  5. Straw, it's cheaper and that's what it's cut for.  Hay is for feed

  6. Straw for both chicks and full growns. For baby chicks Put a wash cloth ontop for warmth.

  7. straw, but in the summer I usually use grass clippings, they really like that :) They don't like to each the regular grass, just dandelions, and cloves

  8. barbed wire or a picture of colonel sanders works great!

  9. they can  eater find  there Owen straw or hay but when they are nesting they will fight to keep there eggs too.

  10. Straw.
