I'm a new surfer and looking for the best dvd out there. So far I've gathered the following from the net:

http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Surf-Surfer-Joe-Part/dp/B00007GW0O/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-1466010-9473759?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1188343696&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/Learn-Surf-Fundamentals-Andy-Irons/dp/B000FJMZ0O/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/102-1466010-9473759?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1188343696&sr=1-2

Let me know if any of you own any of those and let me know what is the best. OR if you know any dvds which is far superior than the above choices let me know

  1. You know youtube and myspace have a lot of free video clips on how to surfing. That might be better for you.

  2. you can't learn from watching a DVD, you can't learn from a book. The only way to get better is to surf all the time...

    Surf schools are a joke...

  3. I am against the "how to surf" videos.  The best way to learn how to surf is to get out in the water and do it.  It helps to have a friend with you who knows what they're doing.  They should let you know where to go and what to do to stay safe and have fun.

If you don't have any friends who surf, check online for groups who meet at the beach (I'm part of sdsurfing.com for example).  It can be a great way to meet people to surf with.  Or put out a thing on Craigslist asking for someone to donate an hour of their time to teach you the ropes.  If you live in San Diego, I'll teach you.  :)

    Or take a lesson.
