Best swims of 2011 All African Games in Mozambique – Swimming news
The 2011 All African Games took place at the Zimpeto National Stadium, in Maputo, Mozambique from September 5-10. The session of the meet conducted several intriguing and matchless events. Mandy Loots of South Africa took home the Women’s 200m butterfly
title. Charl Crous won the Men’s 50m back-stroke event. Karin Prinsloo won the Women’s 200m freestyle crown. Natalie Du Toit won the Women’s 100m freestyle multi disability title, while Kevin Paul of South Africa secured the gold title in the Men’s 100m freestyle
multi disability event.
Firstly, Mandy Loots of South Africa came out strongly in the Women’s 200m butterfly final heat as she put up a great show and won the golden crown of the platform by submitting a captivating time of 2 minutes and 12.46 seconds. In the corresponding swim,
Bianca Meyer of South Africa captured the silver medal on the podium by submitting an appealing time of 2 minutes and 16.66 seconds. On the other hand, Sarah Hadj of Algeria took home the bronze medal on the podium by posting a perfect time of 2 minutes and
20.61 seconds.
Secondly, Charl Crous of South Africa hit the wall in 26.06 to win the Men’s 50m back-stroke title. In the corresponding race, Jason Dunford of Kenya snared the silver medal on the podium by submitting an inspiring time of 26.19 seconds. Meanwhile, Garth
Tune of South Africa settled for bronze medal with a mark of 26.74 seconds.
In the Women’s 200m freestyle final heat, Karin Prinsloo of South Africa powered the wall in 1 minute and 59.84 seconds to win the golden crown of the platform. Zeineb Khalfallah of Tunisia snagged the silver medal on the podium by posting a matchless time
of 2 minutes and 05.44 seconds, while Natasha De Vos South Africa earned bronze title by submitting an impressive time of 2 minutes and 06.20 seconds.
In the corresponding splash, Kristen Lapham of Zimbabwe was placed fourth with a time of 2 minutes and 07.22 seconds, whereas, Kristen Lapham’s compatriot, Nicole Horn settled fifth with a mark of 2 minutes and 08.00 seconds. Malia Mghezzi Bekhouche of Algeria
finished sixth in a time of 2 minutes and 09.16 seconds and Shannon Austin earned seventh position in a time of 2 minutes and 12.36 seconds. Raquel Lourenco settled eighth with a mark of 2 minutes and 32.19 seconds.
Afterwards, Natalie Du Toit of South Africa notched the Women’s 100m freestyle multi disability title of the platform by posting a winning time of 1 minute and 03.24 seconds. In the corresponding swim, Shireen Sapiro of South Africa earned silver with a
matchless mark of 1 minute and 07.62 seconds. Meanwhile, Shireen Sapiro’s compatriot, Emily A Gray settled for bronze with a mark of 1 minute and 08.77 seconds. Vera Toma Agbeere of Nigeria earned fourth spot in 1 minute and 11.23 seconds, while Irene A Bandeira
of Angola was placed fifth in 1 minute and 51.64 seconds.
Kevin Paul of South Africa won the Men’s 100m freestyle multi disability crown with a victorious time of 55.44 seconds. Achmat Hassiem of South Africa finished second with a mark of 55.65 seconds, while Achmat Hassiem’s partner, Kevin G Waller settled third
in a time of 1 minute and 02.92 seconds.
