Best (tech-wise and budget-wise) handheld device if I want to be online with real-time updates on YM 24-7?

Hi! I'm a new insurance agent and I'm currently looking for a handheld device that would enable clients to reach me (and me answer back to them) anytime during the day. Real-time YM updates is very important to me. I'm always on the field and my laptop battery can't handle that much power for it to be kept open the whole day.

For people with similar lifestyle such as mine, what can you suggest?

I'm from Makati City, Philippines. I'm looking for the advise of someone who also lives here, or at least here in Manila.

Well, if you have a WAP capable cellphone, unlimited data plan and if your carrier supports it, then you can IM on your cellphone. But of course, connecting is a pain and it battery consuming. I don't know if free wi-fi spots are common in the Philippines as in here, if so, ZipIt wireless messenger is the best. It is the best wireless IM device I've used so far. It supports Yahoo Messenger, MSN, and AOL. The keypads are in keyboard layout (qwerty) too so IMing is no pain and of course you can chat in real-time. You can even use it to send SMS, store and listen to mp3s, upload and show off pics, and listen to radio station in it. I'm telling you, it's the best.
