Best things to do in Manhatten or to buy?

I'm going away on holiday to Manhatten for a couple of days. Anyone has any suggestions on where is best to go or even buy for my money?

Wow, there is so much to do in Manhattan that there is no way you can do everything in two days, but here are some thoughts.

Ride the subway.  It is safe and clean.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art - follow that up with a stroll through Central Park.

Go see ground zero - very moving.

Battery Park - good view of the statue of liberty

Take a boat ride around Manhattan Island.  Well worth it.

Broadway plays

Times Square - just watch people there

Chinatown is also worth seeing.

Yankee Stadium if you want to get outside Manhattan and go to the Bronx.

David Letterman - look online for how to sign up for tickets....it is kind of a hit and miss deal.

As for what to buy, my daughter (12) bought about six purses from street vendors while there.  They may not be "authentic" but they are very good quality.
